Rangers’ interim chairman, **John Gilligan**, has expressed his admiration for **Philippe Clement**, despite the team’s current third-place position in the Scottish Premiership. In his press conference on 23 September, Gilligan acknowledged that Clement has been under significant pressure, often serving as the club’s spokesperson in addition to his managerial duties, which he deemed “unfair.” Gilligan aims to relieve some of this burden now that he is in charge, allowing Clement to focus more on the first team.
Although Gilligan is impressed with Clement, the manager’s start has been mixed, and Rangers’ performances have lacked consistency. The team has struggled in games where they should have dominated, and their loss to Celtic highlights the need for improvement. Clement’s integration of new signings and tactical changes will be crucial as he looks to improve results.
While the board seems willing to give Clement time until December, any significant lead established by Celtic by then could force a reevaluation of his position.
