The supporter collapsed during the fixture, and despite the efforts of medical staff, the club confirmed on Sunday that the fan had sadly died.
In a statement posted on social media, Bristol City Women expressed their deep sadness, offering condolences to the fan’s family and friends during this difficult time. They also thanked the on-site medical staff and stadium staff for their efforts in trying to help.
Aston Villa Women also expressed their condolences, echoing Bristol City’s sentiments and extending their sympathy to the family and friends of the supporter.
The match itself ended in a 2-2 draw, with Carrie Jones’ long-range goal helping Bristol City earn a point. Both clubs have come together to honor the memory of the supporter who passed away at the game.
