SAD NEWS: Newcastle united 17-year-old fan dead after attending the club’s premier league match against Fulham

The Newcastle United community is mourning the tragic death of 17-year-old fan Sonny Farrier, who passed away in a devastating accident the weekend before last. Sonny and his dad, Lar, were making a delivery in Consett when their van hit ice on a steep hill and skidded into a tree. Both emerged unharmed, but while trying to assess the situation, a car also skidding on ice struck Sonny and the van. Despite his father’s efforts to perform CPR, Sonny sadly died at the scene.

Sonny had been a passionate Newcastle United supporter, holding a season ticket since he was just six years old. He never missed a game, including every Champions League match this season. His friends have initiated a campaign for a minute’s applause on the 18th minute of tonight’s game, as Sonny would have turned 18 this Thursday. While there are no official arrangements for this tribute, his family and friends plan to honor him in their seating area.

This heartfelt message was shared by the Facebook page ‘It’s in Black and White Shop,’ as the Newcastle community rallies to remember Sonny.
