During a match between Nottingham Forest and Leicester City, a disturbing incident occurred when a spectator attacked Forest players as they celebrated their third goal. Forest scored three goals in quick succession before Kelechi Iheanacho pulled one back for Leicester. However, a fourth goal by Djed Spence sealed the victory for Forest.
As Forest’s players celebrated their third goal, a fan ran onto the pitch and threw punches at them. The players managed to fend him off, while stewards intervened and tackled the individual. The fan was escorted off the field by police, and it is expected that he will face charges, along with a potential stadium ban.
The incident marred what was otherwise a triumphant night for Nottingham Forest, who advanced to the fifth round of the competition, where they will face Huddersfield Town. Neither the teams nor the FA have released an official statement about the attack yet.
Leicester City, under Brendan Rodgers, have now gone three games without a win and will next face Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League.
