LATEST UPDATE: New Stoke City boss bemoans big decision in Hull City loss

New Stoke City head coach Narcis Pelach expressed his frustration following a 3-1 defeat to Hull City in his debut match. Despite taking the lead through Ben Wilmot’s header after 30 minutes, Pelach lamented missed opportunities and felt that fatigue played a part in the team’s second-half collapse. Hull struck back with two quick goals late on, turning the game in their favor, with Regan Slater’s strike and an own goal off Wilmot sealing the victory for Hull.

Pelach, who replaced Steven Schumacher as Potters boss just two days prior, was pleased with Stoke’s initial intensity and ability to execute the game plan of pressing high to disrupt Hull’s passing rhythm. However, he highlighted missed chances by Tom Cannon and Million Manhoef that could have put the team 2-0 ahead, potentially changing the outcome of the match. Pelach believes that if Stoke had taken those chances, the game could have unfolded differently.

The Spaniard also had some criticism for the referee’s decisions but acknowledged that his team needs to improve their finishing and maintain consistency throughout the match to avoid such results in the future.
