SAD NEWS: Celtic legend dies after battle with skin cancer

Tommy Burns, a Celtic legend, has sadly passed away at the age of 51 after a long battle with cancer. Burns originally contracted skin cancer in 2006 and, despite receiving treatment, the disease returned in March. Celtic confirmed his passing with a heartfelt statement, calling him “a true Celtic legend and wonderful man” who will be deeply missed.

Burns spent 15 years as a player at Celtic Park, joining the club as a teenager in 1973. He made 352 league appearances, scored 52 goals, and earned eight caps for Scotland. His managerial career began at Kilmarnock before he returned to manage Celtic from 1994 to 1997. Burns later became a key figure in the Scotland national team setup and returned to Celtic as a first-team coach under Martin O’Neill and Gordon Strachan.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary and their four children. Burns was widely loved and respected by Celtic fans, and tributes poured in from supporters this morning in honor of his immense contribution to the club and Scottish football.
