EXCLUSIVE: Brighton official arrested for sexual assault of two women

PC Lee Willis, a 49-year-old Sussex Police officer, has appeared in court, where he pleaded not guilty to three counts of sexual assault by touching two women while on duty in Brighton and Hove in January and February 2023. During his arraignment at Southwark Crown Court, Willis denied the allegations. He has been suspended from his duties pending trial.

The trial is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Southwark Crown Court, with a preliminary hearing set for January 23, 2025. Willis has been released on conditional bail.

Sussex Police confirmed that the charges were brought following an investigation by their Professional Standards Department, which was overseen by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
