BREAKING NEWS:Celtic star on receiving end of ‘absolute shocker’ tackle vs Bratislava that entered red card territory

The Celtic star took a bang coming up against a Champions League foe.

It was a night of Celtic glory in Glasgow’s east-end – but one club hero reckons their opponents could have been playing with 10 men for most of the game.

Brendan Rodgers’ side put down a marker early doors in this instalment of the Champions League. They thumped Slovan Bratislava 5-1 thanks to goals from Liam Scales, Kyogo, Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah.

With the game in the balance though in the first half, Neil Lennon was left aghast at a first half incident involving Nicolas Kuhn and Bratislava’s eventual goalscorer, Kevin Wimmer. The away defender clattered into the Celtic winger full-blooded, leaving former boss and midfielder Lennon wincing.

“It’s a clear foul. Oh, that’s a shocker, that is an absolute shocker. That’s borderline red for me.”

In the end, Kuhn was able to continue and play his part in a big win that delighted his gaffer. Asked what the half-time message was to his stars, Rodgers told TNT Sports: “We reiterated we don’t need to do anything special, we just have to be us.

“We don’t want to put the burden on anyone scoring, so sharing the goals is important. They’re such a selfless group. We know it’s a long road, but the first steps are important and the steps we made tonight were fantastic.

“The supporters were sensational. We won the last game of last campaign and the first of this, so we’re trying to make this place a fortress.”
