SAD NEWS:Celtic Champions League opponents sack manager after humiliating defeat

Dinamo Zagreb have parted ways with head coach Sergej Jakirovic after a devastating 9-2 loss to Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

This was Dinamo’s largest defeat in history, and the first instance of a team conceding nine goals in the tournament’s history.

Jakirovic, who took over as Dinamo’s head coach last summer, led the club to a league and cup double in his debut season.

A club statement from Dinamo read: “GNK Dinamo announces the mutual termination of the contract with our former coach, Sergej Jakirović.

“The first team will be temporarily led by former professional staff member Sandro Perkovic until a long-term coaching decision is made.

“We thank Sergej Jakirovic sincerely for his contributions to our club and wish him every success in the future.

“We ask the media and public to respect Sergej Jakirovic and his family during this difficult time and refrain from adding further stress to an already challenging situation.”
