Chelsea loanee suffers ‘really strange injury’ in first training session for Premier League club

Trevoh Chalobah’s debut for Crystal Palace will be delayed after he suffered an abdominal injury during his first training session with the club following his loan move from Chelsea. Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed the injury, which is described as unusual, and said Chalobah is likely to miss the next three games, including matches against Leicester City, QPR, and Manchester United.

Chalobah’s loan move from Chelsea did not include a purchase option, and Palace had expected to integrate him quickly into their back-three system. However, with the injury and the absence of other defenders like Chadi Riad, who is out for 8-12 weeks, and Rob Holding, who remains exiled from the squad, Palace’s defensive options are limited.

On a positive note, new signing Eddie Nketiah is fit and ready to start after his £25 million transfer from Arsenal. Glasner expressed confidence in Nketiah’s ability to make an immediate impact for the team, offering versatility and a different profile compared to Jean-Philippe Mateta.
