Owen Hargreaves has expressed optimism about Celtic’s chances in the Champions League this season due to the new format, which may ease some of the pressure on teams like Celtic by avoiding traditional powerhouse matchups over two legs. Hargreaves believes Celtic could win at least half of their games and even cause an upset against Borussia Dortmund, despite the German team’s strong reputation. He also praised Brendan Rodgers’ recruitment, especially noting the potential for Celtic to produce Scottish football’s first £40m sale.
Meanwhile, Rangers and Aberdeen are awaiting an SPFL tribunal to settle a compensation dispute regarding Connor Barron’s summer transfer to Ibrox. Aberdeen is entitled to compensation as Barron is a product of their youth system and moved while under 23. The clubs have failed to agree on a valuation, leaving the matter in the hands of SPFL authorities. Barron has impressed at Rangers, making six appearances and being tipped as a future international star.
