Matt O’Riley may be on track for a swift recovery from his injury sustained during his debut with Brighton.
The former Celtic midfielder made a record-setting transfer to the Seagulls, valued at nearly £30 million for the Scottish club, but his first match was cut short due to a severe tackle. Crawley’s Jay Williams executed a harsh challenge on the Danish playmaker, raising concerns about a prolonged absence after O’Riley limped off the Amex pitch.
However, manager Fabian Hurzeler has now reported that the surgery was successful, and he is optimistic about O’Riley’s “rapid” recovery, noting that the player remains in good spirits.
“He is feeling very positive,” the manager stated. “He possesses a wonderful character and attitude, and right after the surgery, he was extremely upbeat.
“He is present at the training facility and has already begun his rehabilitation. I anticipate that he will return quite soon.”
Hurzeler expressed his anger regarding the tackle on O’Riley during his debut, criticizing the high-studded nature of the collision.
