Ezekiel Elliott’s return to the Dallas Cowboys was a successful one, as he helped his team to a 33-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Elliott made an immediate impact with 10 rushes for 40 yards and a touchdown, highlighted by a signature hurdle over a Browns defender on the first play. Teaming up with his close friend, quarterback Dak Prescott, Zeke expressed his excitement after the game, saying, “It felt good to be back out there with the Star on my helmet.”
Despite a strong first half that saw the Cowboys lead 20-3, Elliott’s role was reduced as head coach Mike McCarthy adjusted the game plan in the second half, cruising to a comfortable win. Elliott remained optimistic, mentioning the importance of staying fresh as the season progresses: “It’s Week 1, so … definitely fresh, but just got to continue to build on that and take care of my body and we want to be feeling good in December and January.”
Elliott shared carries with Rico Dowdle, who had 8 attempts for 26 yards, creating a potential dynamic duo reminiscent of Zeke’s partnership with Tony Pollard in 2022. Though it’s early in the season, the Cowboys’ backfield displayed promising signs, and Elliott looked solid in his first game back, setting the tone for the season ahead.
