Everton’s dramatic collapse against Bournemouth ‘the most frustrating’ defeat of Sean Dyche’s career

Everton suffered a heartbreaking defeat as they threw away a 2-0 lead, conceding three goals after the 87th minute to lose 3-2 to Bournemouth in a Premier League clash. The match seemed to be under Everton’s control after goals from Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but a late collapse saw Bournemouth turn the game on its head.

Everton manager Sean Dyche expressed his frustration after the match, describing it as one of the most frustrating defeats of his career. He said, “To dominate a game for so long and come out of it without something at least is incredibly frustrating.” Dyche lamented his team’s failure to do the basics, such as winning tackles and headers, which allowed Bournemouth to capitalize on their chances late in the game.

The collapse began in the 87th minute when Antoine Semenyo scored for Bournemouth with what was only their second shot on target. In stoppage time, Lewis Cook and Luis Sinisterra scored to complete an extraordinary comeback, leaving Everton fans and players stunned.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Dyche admitted that he sensed trouble after Bournemouth’s first goal, saying, “When they got one, I could smell it in the air… I was trying to get them to do the basics, but when the players are out there, it’s not as easy.”

Michael Dawson, speaking on *Soccer Saturday*, described Everton as being in “absolute cruise control” and was shocked by the manner of their collapse. He highlighted the poor game management, noting that Everton were still pushing for a third goal instead of consolidating their lead.

The defeat leaves Everton in a difficult position, having lost all three of their Premier League games this season, and the challenge now is to pick the players up after such a demoralizing loss.
