Report: Celtic set to re-open talks to sign big summer target on Monday

Celtic are actively pursuing the signing of Mateusz Bogusz from LAFC and are expected to intensify negotiations next week. This move comes as Brendan Rodgers seeks to bolster his squad following the anticipated departure of Matt O’Riley to Brighton. The transfer of O’Riley, who is undergoing a medical in England, has prompted Celtic to focus on bringing in new attacking midfield talents.

Bogusz, a versatile player who has been pivotal for LAFC, particularly in the Leagues Cup Final, is seen as a key target for Celtic. The Scottish champions have reportedly offered around £8 million for the Polish star, though LAFC might hold out for a higher fee. Bogusz’s ability to play across multiple positions in the attacking third makes him an attractive option for Rodgers, who is looking for creativity and goal-scoring potential in his squad.

Additionally, Celtic are also negotiating for Arne Engels, a promising talent from Augsburg. Engels, who could be a direct replacement for O’Riley, is valued at around £9 million. The potential move to Glasgow, coupled with the opportunity to play in the Champions League, is believed to be appealing to Engels.

With the transfer window closing soon, Celtic are under pressure to complete these deals to ensure Rodgers has a competitive squad for the season ahead. Fans and pundits alike, including Chris Sutton, have expressed concerns about the current state of the squad, emphasizing the need for quality additions before the deadline.
