Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Sheffield United defender Auston Trusty before the summer transfer window closes, according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph. Trusty, who joined Sheffield United for £5 million last year, has caught the eye of Brendan Rodgers as a potential addition to strengthen the squad.
The 26-year-old American defender has experience in both the Premier League and the Championship, with 32 appearances in the top flight and 44 in the Championship. His versatility, being able to play both as a center-back and a left-back, makes him an attractive option for Celtic as they prepare to compete in multiple competitions, including the Champions League.
Trusty’s performances have been praised, particularly during his time at Birmingham City, where his former teammate George Friend described him as “incredible” for how quickly he adapted to the demands of the Championship after moving from abroad. If Celtic manage to secure his signature, Trusty could provide valuable depth and quality to Rodgers’ defense.
Meanwhile, Celtic are also linked with other potential signings, including Los Angeles FC midfielder Mateusz Bogusz and Lausanne-Sport’s Alvyn Sanches, as Rodgers continues to shape his squad. The club is also dealing with the potential departure of key midfielder Matt O’Riley, who is being pursued by Brighton. If O’Riley leaves, it would be a significant loss for the Scottish champions, but Rodgers is hopeful of reinforcing the team with new signings before the transfer window closes.
