Celtic are in the market for a new

midfielder as the summer transfer window nears its end.

The team is on the verge of losing their key player, Matt O’Riley, who is close to completing a move to Brighton.

Brendan Rodgers has acknowledged that finding a direct replacement for O’Riley will be challenging, but Celtic will need to improve collectively.

O’Riley, who hails from Denmark, had a stellar season with 19 goals and 18 assists, playing a crucial role in Celtic’s SPFL title win.

A new signing is essential, and journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk reports that Celtic have identified Mateusz Bogusz as a potential replacement.

According to Meczyki, the club is “seriously” interested in acquiring the Los Angeles FC attacking midfielder.

Negotiations between the two clubs are reportedly ongoing, with Celtic aiming to finalize the deal for the 22-year-old before the transfer window closes.

Włodarczyk notes that discussions are focused on the transfer fee and personal terms with Bogusz.

The midfielder has been performing impressively in the MLS, where he has netted 13 goals and provided five assists this season, totaling 16 goals and six assists across all competitions.

His standout performances have caught the attention of several top clubs, and he is likely to receive a call-up to the Polish national team.

Having previously played for Leeds United, Bogusz is eager to join a top-tier club. Celtic have already made contact, and reaching a personal agreement with him is expected to be straightforward.

It is suggested that a transfer fee of around £8.4 million may be required to secure his signature, though Celtic will likely negotiate for a lower price.

At present, Celtic appear to have a strong chance of signing him, but the situation remains fluid.
