Breaking News: ‘DISAPPOINTED,’ CARTER-VICKERS OPENS UP ON LAPSE

Celtic have started their season in dominant fashion, securing their place at the top of the Premiership and advancing to the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports League Cup. The Hoops have been in excellent form, scoring nine goals in their recent encounters and generating talk among fans of potentially securing a second domestic treble in three years.

However, central defender Cameron Carter-Vickers expressed some dissatisfaction despite the team’s success. In Celtic’s 3-1 League Cup victory over Hibernian, the team conceded a goal that Carter-Vickers found “definitely annoying.” The goal came from a set-piece when Hibs’ Mykola Kuharevich managed to head the ball past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, marking the Great Dane’s first competitive goal conceded in his third match for Celtic.

Carter-Vickers acknowledged the team’s strong overall performance but highlighted the frustration of allowing a goal from a set-piece, something he believes can be easily corrected with focus and improvement. He emphasized the importance of maintaining concentration throughout the match, especially during set-pieces, to prevent such lapses.

The match also saw Daizen Maeda shine with a double inside the first 17 minutes, putting Celtic firmly in control. Nicolas Kuhn added a third goal early in the second half to secure the victory.

Carter-Vickers also welcomed the return of Adam Idah following his £9.5 million transfer from Norwich City and praised Kasper Schmeichel, who has recently joined as Joe Hart’s successor. The defender noted Schmeichel’s quality, especially his ability to play with the ball at his feet, and expressed confidence in the goalkeeper’s abilities despite him not yet being tested heavily in competitive matches.

As Celtic continue their strong start to the season, the focus will likely remain on tightening up defensively, particularly on set-pieces, to ensure they maintain their dominant form.
