Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo has reassured fans that he is “fine” after suffering a serious injury during their Premier League opener against Bournemouth. The 23-year-old Brazilian was injured just eight minutes into the match after challenging Antoine Semenyo for the ball in the air, resulting in a bad fall on his left leg. The game was paused for around ten minutes while medical staff attended to Danilo, and he was eventually stretchered off with his leg in a splint.
Danilo later provided an update via his Instagram story, saying, “Hey guys. I’m just stopping by to say that I’m fine, thank God, and I’m already home. We’ll be back soon. Thank you for all the messages of support.” Following the match, Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed that Danilo had broken his ankle and would be out for a significant period. He added that while it was a serious injury, the player is stable and in good spirits, and that the team will miss him both on and off the pitch.
Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, who was involved in the incident, expressed his concern for Danilo after the game, saying he didn’t realize the severity of the injury at the time and wished Danilo a speedy recovery. Despite the injury, the match continued, with Forest taking the lead through Chris Wood, but Semenyo later equalized for Bournemouth, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
