Celtic Football Club has suspended the season tickets of fans registered with the Green Brigade, one of the club’s prominent supporters’ groups, from attending home matches. The decision follows several incidents involving the group, including a display showing solidarity with Palestine during a Champions League match against Atlético Madrid. This display was against the club’s request to refrain from bringing flags related to the Middle East conflict, as Celtic was concerned about potential disciplinary action from UEFA.
The club cited “repeated incidents of unacceptable conduct” by the Green Brigade as the reason for the suspension. Celtic has already faced UEFA fines twice this season related to actions by the Green Brigade, including a pyrotechnic display at a match against Feyenoord and a banner described by UEFA as containing a “provocative message of an offensive nature” during a game against Lazio.
Other issues reportedly mentioned by Celtic include incidents such as “rushing turnstiles” at Motherwell’s Fir Park, unauthorized access before the Lazio match, and inappropriate behavior towards stewards. The ban on the Green Brigade’s season ticket holders is pending further review and communication with the group.
