‘I am sad’ – Another major injury blow for Brighton ahead of next match

Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that top scorer Joao Pedro is expected to miss the upcoming match against Newcastle due to an ankle injury sustained in training. This is a significant blow for the Seagulls, as Pedro has been a key player, scoring his 20th goal of the season in their recent 1-0 win against Aston Villa. De Zerbi expressed uncertainty about Pedro’s availability for the remainder of the season, adding that other attacking options, Julio Enciso and Ansu Fati, are also not in peak physical condition.

However, there is some positive news for Brighton, as Adam Lallana and Tariq Lamptey could be available for selection. Despite this, the team remains without several key players, including Evan Ferguson (ankle), Kaoru Mitoma (back), Solly March (knee), Jack Hinshelwood (foot), Pervis Estupinan (ankle), Jan Paul van Hecke (thigh), and James Milner (thigh).

In contrast, Newcastle is hopeful that full-back Kieran Trippier will be fit enough to participate in the final stages of the season. Trippier has returned to training after a two-month layoff due to a calf injury, and his return would be a boost for both Newcastle and England as they prepare for the Euro 2024 finals.
