Everton has announced that a worker lost their life in a tragic accident that occurred at the club’s new stadium construction site.

The anonymous 26-year-old man was fatally injured on Monday afternoon while working on the Everton Stadium construction in Liverpool’s Bramley-Moore Dock.

The club released a statement stating that they were “heartbroken by the news” and that “everyone connected to Everton is sending their thoughts and condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues at this unbearably sad time.”

“A representative for Laing O’Rourke, the stadium’s construction contractor, acknowledged the fatality and declared that work had been put on hold indefinitely.

“Merseyside Police and the Health and Safety Executive have been called to the site.”

The 53,000-seat stadium, which will cost £500 million, is expected to be finished in time for the 2024–25 season.
