Former Cameroon international, Landry N’Guemo, who had previously spent a season on loan at Parkhead, has tragically lost his life in a traffic accident, as confirmed by the Cameroon Football Federation today.
N’Guemo, who began his career with French side Nancy and had stints in Turkish and Norwegian football, was a prominent player for the Cameroonian national team from 2006 to 2014. He also had a notable spell with Girondins de Bordeaux. The Cameroonian Football Federation, known as FECAFOOT, expressed their deepest condolences to N’Guemo’s family, friends, and the entire football community.
During the 2009-2010 season, N’Guemo played as a defensive midfielder for Celtic, making over 40 appearances under the management of Tony Mowbray and Neil Lennon. He made his competitive debut for the club in a Champions League qualifying match against Dynamo Moscow. Celtic Football Club paid tribute to their former player on their official website, expressing shock and sadness at his passing. They extended their thoughts and prayers to N’Guemo’s family and friends during this difficult time.
