Breaking News:Stoke City Defender Involved in a Serious Car Accident

Mike Pejic, a former footballer and taekwondo champion, expressed that his life had been completely disrupted following an accident on Christmas Eve. At the age of 72, he suffered an Achilles tendon injury after being knocked off his bike near his residence in Shropshire. His wife, Mally, mentioned that the retired left-back, who played for Stoke City, Everton, Aston Villa, and England, was feeling quite low. Mrs. Pejic narrated how she found her husband injured on a rural lane between Minsterley and Bishop’s Castle upon returning from a local shopping trip. Despite the distressing situation, she acted promptly by providing assistance and comfort to him. Following the head-on collision, Mr. Pejic was transported to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by ambulance and later discharged on Christmas Day. The British taekwondo champion in the over-70s category is deeply saddened by the impact of the injury on his training regimen. Mrs. Pejic highlighted the challenges he faces, including the use of a special boot to prevent further strain on his Achilles tendon. Mr. Pejic’s dedication to taekwondo, where he competes for Great Britain, has been hindered by the accident. He had been preparing to defend his European gold medal and participate in the world championships. Additionally, he imparts his knowledge of taekwondo to the community in Chesterton, his birthplace. Despite missing out on commentating for Stoke City matches on BBC Radio Stoke, Mr. Pejic finds solace in the supportive messages he has received from well-wishers.

The spokesperson stated that West Mercia Police was summoned to a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist at approximately 11:25 BST on 24 December.

“The cyclist sustained a minor injury and sought medical attention at the hospital. The driver initially fled the scene but later came back,” the spokesperson mentioned, and also mentioned that investigations were still in progress.
