Ipswich Town has been presented with the opportunity to acquire Fode Ballo-Toure from AC Milan, amidst interest from Championship clubs, according to Calciomercato (as reported by Sport Witness).
Ipswich Town is preparing for their return to the Premier League following their promotion last year.
Under the management of Kieran McKenna, the team has achieved two promotions in as many seasons, successfully completing their ascent from League One.
In contrast, Leeds United and Watford are bracing themselves for another season in the Championship.
Leeds finished third last season and reached the play-off final, while Watford found themselves in the lower half of the table after a disappointing campaign.
Both clubs were linked with AC Milan defender Ballo-Toure last week as they seek to strengthen their defensive line.
However, a recent report from Italy indicates that Premier League club Ipswich Town has been given the opportunity to sign him after he declined an offer from Besiktas.
It is reported that the player favors a move to the Premier League this summer.
The 27-year-old spent the previous season at Fulham, where he struggled to establish himself at Craven Cottage.
He made only six league appearances but remains optimistic about his ability to compete in England’s top division.
His preference for a Premier League move makes it seem unlikely that Daniel Farke or Tom Cleverley will succeed in securing his signature this summer.
They must now redirect their focus as they aim to enhance their squad in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window.
Ipswich Town is a club on the rise, and if they can navigate their first season in the Premier League successfully, there is a strong possibility they will continue to progress in the coming years.
Ballo-Toure requires regular playing time; he made only ten Serie A appearances for AC Milan during his last year there, and a full season of consistent minutes would be beneficial for him. While the Championship could provide that opportunity, it currently appears unlikely.
Nevertheless, Ipswich Town already has two left-backs in their squad, and unless one departs, it seems unusual for them to pursue another.
Watford is looking to make improvements under Cleverley, but their summer business has raised concerns among many fans who believe the new boss is not getting the support he needs from the higher-ups. The former Watford midfielder should have the support of the players and fans, but the board will need to show patience this season.
Leeds United is aiming for promotion this season. Farke’s side is hoping for an automatic spot this time around, but they still have work to do this summer.
Leeds United will kick off their season with a home match against Portsmouth, while Watford will travel to the Den to take on Millwall.
