Celtic Football Club has conveyed its sincere condolences following the death of Neil Lennon’s mother, Ursula, as confirmed by the former manager of the Hoops on Sunday. This news represents a significant loss for both Lennon and the Celtic community. Recently appointed as the manager of Rapid Bucharest in Romania, Lennon returned to Scotland on Saturday due to what was termed a “family emergency.” In a statement from Rapid Bucharest, it was disclosed that Ursula had been in a “very serious condition” after spending several weeks in the hospital. Subsequently, Lennon shared a brief message, stating: “My beautiful mother, Ursula, passed away this morning at 10:51.” Following the confirmation of her passing, Celtic honored her memory on social media, expressing: “The heartfelt thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic Football Club are with our former captain and manager, Neil Lennon, and his family following the sad passing of Neil’s beloved mother, Ursula, earlier today. RIP, Ursula.” In the interim, Rapid Bucharest has appointed assistant coach Iain Brunksill to take charge while Lennon copes with this tragic news. The Romanian club also expressed their support, stating: “Our coach’s mother passed away this morning. Condolences to the Lennon family! We are with our coach in these difficult moments.”
