Eagles’ massive udfa pegged roster candidate due to ‘Untapped potential’

The Philadelphia Eagles have seen the departure of key pass rushers like Haason Reddick and Javon Hargrove from their Super Bowl-winning roster two years ago. In their place, players such as Jalen Carter and Bryce Huff have been brought in, but the team still needs more depth. One undrafted free agent who could provide that is defensive tackle Gabe Hall.

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report has singled out Hall as the undrafted free agent with the highest likelihood of making the Eagles roster at the start of the 2024 season. Ballentine highlighted Hall’s impressive physical attributes, such as his 6’6” height and 34⅜” arms, which allow him to excel in creating separation and defending the run effectively.

“His quickness hit better in 2021 and 2022 and showed a player with high motor and diversity in his game. Hall did show off a good swim move on film and in Mobile.”

In 2024, the Eagles are hoping to get back closer to the top of the NFL in sacks again. Philadelphia was tied for 19th with 43 sacks last season a year after they nearly set a new record in the category with 70.

Carter and Jordan Davis are set to man the middle of the Eagles defensive line again this fall. But if Hall can show consistency along with his traits during the preseason, he could offer more upside than his competition at defensive tackle.

Gabe Hall

Hall’s potential to improve his pass-rushing skills could be a deciding factor in his favor come cut day. Known for his exceptional athleticism and weight room numbers, Hall has the tools to become a valuable interior pass-rusher for the Eagles.

During his time at Baylor, Hall accumulated 12.5 sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss, 77 total tackles, and 3 pass defenses. His combination of size, athleticism, and skill set makes him a promising prospect for the Eagles’ defensive line.
