Breaking News:Celtic has turned down a third offer of £15m for their key player, while Rangers has made a ‘concrete’ bid for the winger.

After a week of pre-season action and various transfer rumors circulating, we have compiled the latest headlines for the Scottish Premiership as the 2024/25 season draws nearer. Hearts and Hibs have been actively involved in their business, but what about their rivals?

Matt O’Riley has been attracting significant attention this summer, with several clubs interested in acquiring him. Atalanta has been leading the race for some time now, but they have yet to finalize a deal for the midfielder.

According to Football Insider, Celtic has now rejected a third bid from Atalanta, which was valued at £15 million plus add-ons. The Hoops are standing firm on their valuation of £25 million, and Atalanta’s recent attempts have fallen well short of the mark.

The departure of an influential player like O’Riley would undoubtedly leave a massive void in Brendan Rodgers’ team, which is precisely why Celtic is not willing to lower their asking price. Once the 23-year-old departs, the Hoops will need to invest in a suitable replacement, a task made even more challenging after his impressive record of 19 goals and 18 assists last season.

Rangers have reportedly made a bid for FC Porto’s Gonçalo Borges as they seek to strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming season. According to Portuguese outlet Record (as relayed by Ibrox News), the Gers are one of two clubs to have submitted an official bid for the 23-year-old.

While other clubs have been linked with Borges, Rangers and RC Strasbourg are the only ones to have taken the step of making an official offer.
