Scotland star’s role in Celtic transfer move revealed as Hibs player seals ‘great opportunity’

The most recent transfer news for Hibs and their competitors in the Scottish Premiership has been revealed.

Pre-season is currently in progress and the transfer market is active, with all Scottish Premiership clubs having completed their initial summer transfers. As the teams navigate through the busy transfer window, we have examined some of the latest developments in Scotland’s top division.

Celtic have made significant moves in the transfer market by signing two new goalkeepers after Joe Hart’s retirement. Kasper Schmeichel has been brought in as Hart’s direct replacement, while Viljami Sinisalo will serve as a backup.

Sinisalo, who joined from Aston Villa, spoke about how club captain and Scotland international John McGinn influenced his decision to join Celtic. “I had many conversations with John about moving to Scotland. It definitely helped that I had lived there before. He encouraged me a lot. He said I should seize this opportunity. It’s a huge one and he gave me some advice, which I won’t disclose!” Sinisalo shared with the Daily Record.

“John is an amazing person. I appreciate everything he has done for me at Aston Villa and how he has helped me settle into life in Scotland. He is a significant figure. Absolutely. He has a great sense of humor. At Villa, he even manages to make those who don’t speak English well laugh, he includes everyone.”

Hibs have confirmed that Malik Zaid will be joining Annan Athletic on loan for the 2024/25 season, marking his second loan spell away from Easter Road after a six-month stint with Edinburgh City last season.

Zaid has not made his senior debut for the Hibees yet, but he has showcased his ability to play as a midfielder or forward in three appearances for the B Team during the SPFL Trust Trophy. Prior to Zaid’s upcoming season in League 1, Hibs’ sporting director Malky Mackay expressed his optimism, stating that this opportunity will allow Zaid to continue playing at a high level of competition. Mackay also mentioned Zaid’s successful performance at Edinburgh City last season and hopes that his experience in League 1 will contribute to his development. The club is eager to witness Zaid’s progress in the upcoming season.
