Fabrizio Romano Delivers Matt O’Riley Celtic Update

Negotiations are currently taking place to find a solution for Matt O’Riley’s sale that pleases both Celtic and Atalanta, according to Fabrizio Romano. Celtic is holding out for a higher price despite the Italian club’s €17–18 million offer for the Danish international.

Numerous European teams have expressed interest in O’Riley, including Roma, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus. The 23-year-old, who scored 19 goals and provided 18 assists in 49 games, was named Celtic’s Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, and Young Player of the Year in the previous campaign.

With three years left on his Parkhead contract, O’Riley has three years left to stay with Celtic, despite interest from other teams. The midfield player would become the most expensive sale in Scottish history if the champions were to receive a bid of between £25 and £30 million.

It could be the Italian team who entices Celtic to sell. The Serie A team has already sent three proposals totaling €17–18 million for the midfield player.

O’Riley is a player that Celtic supporters will be hoping the team can keep for another season, as Brendan Rodgers’ team appears to be becoming more competitive in Europe. Under Ange Postecoglou, the Danish international has been a vital member of the Hoops since joining from MK Dons. His departure would be a serious setback to the team’s goals.

It’s still unclear if Atalanta would match Celtic’s asking price for the midfield player or if a rival team will make a better offer as talks continue. O’Riley is still a Celtics player as of right now.
