Breaking News: Jack Butland could be next star to quit Ibrox as Rangers transfer update emerges

The next major player to leave Ibrox this summer as Philippe Clement gets his Rangers team ready for the 2024–2025 season might be Jack Butland.

After the Belgian was appointed in October, the 31-year-old was possibly his best player, securing his place in the goal and making an impact in both the Scottish Premiership and Europa League.

The former Crystal Palace goalkeeper has drawn interest from a number of clubs as a result of his performances, and if the Premier League makes a sizable offer this summer, the Gators may be inclined to sell [The Scotsman].

Peter Grant, who said via BBC Sportscene [25 May] that “he’s been unbelievable for Rangers; a fantastic signing for them,” was among several who praised him for his efforts in goal.

Given that Butland is playing at the top of his game right now, Clement needs to determine whether it is really necessary to maintain the goalie or whether it would be preferable for the team to use his transfer money elsewhere.

Although they will have to wait till he returns from a prolonged vacation to witness him play in preseason, the Gers have already signed Motherwell native Liam Kelly, 28, so the manager wouldn’t be powerless in the situation [Daily Record].

After leaving Ibrox in 2018, the talented goalkeeper gained experience playing for various teams, most notably Motherwell, where he first made a permanent move after making an impact on loan.

Rangers’ Liam Kelly is prepared to take Jack Butland’s place.

After 133 appearances in three seasons, Clement has decided to bring him back to Ibrox, which could have a cascading effect on the goalkeeping position this summer.
Even though Butland leaving the team after just one season would be upsetting, the Gers might make good use of the sale proceeds because Kelly is prepared to take the No. 1 place.
His sale would not be well received by supporters, but it is a move that is at least worth considering if it means raising significant money to improve all around the field.

In other Rangers news, information on the team’s stay at Hampden Park has surfaced as negotiations near completion.
