England’s versatile youth international defender Reuell Walters has joined Luton Town as their second signing of the summer after leaving Arsenal. The highly-rated 19-year-old previously spent time in Tottenham Hotspur’s academy before moving to Arsenal in 2020. Walters, who can play in various defensive positions, has represented England at under-18, under-19, and under-20 levels. Despite featuring regularly for Arsenal’s academy team last season, he did not make a senior appearance under manager Mikel Arteta. As a result, Walters opted to decline a new contract offer from Arsenal in favor of seeking regular first-team opportunities with Luton Town.
Manager Rob Edwards expressed his delight in welcoming Reuell to the club, emphasizing his excitement about the young player’s potential and versatility. Reuell, after completing his medical at The Brache, expressed his enthusiasm for the new challenge and his goals for the upcoming season. He also mentioned his familiarity with some familiar faces at the club, highlighting his positive outlook on joining Luton.
