In an attempt to acquire Celtics great Matt O’Riley, Atlanta is prepared to make a bigger offer.
The European League winners reportedly initiated negotiations with the Hoops, but their initial offer of about £16 million was promptly turned down, according to Record Sport Online. The Serie A team is expected to submit a stronger offer, but it will need to increase significantly because it is now far less than Celtic’s asking price. The Scottish champions aim to surpass the club record £25 million they paid for Jota, a winger.
The teams now vying for O’Riley are unlikely to reach that point because Southampton is willing to pay up to £20 million and Atletico Madrid, who have long been supporters, is keeping an eye on him. The Spanish team had a loan with a buyout option rejected in January, but they may be able to reapply if Saul Niguez—who is in negotiations with Seville—sells. O’Riley is drawn to Saints since he was previously employed by MK Dons boss Russell Martin.
Daniel Kelly won’t be included in Celtic’s preseason plans, according to Parkhead coach Brendan Rodgers, after he was unable to reach an agreement on a new contract. The 18-year-old’s contract expires on December 31st, and Bayer Leverkusen is one of the teams keeping an eye on the promising player.
Although Kelly has already witnessed the Hoops jump ship for Watford, they are still seeking to convince her to stay. Insisting that Celtic had made the young player an enormous offer, Rodgers pleaded with the midfielder to stay with the team. But he acknowledged that given the uncertainties, he is unable to include him in the lead-up to the upcoming campaign.
“With all due respect, I have worked with young players and I know their levels and where they’re at from a technical perspective and a financial perspective. Daniel, like Rocco, has been offered a deal that is valued,” added Rodgers. “There is no impasse.” The club has made deals offers to both of those boys.

“Rocco rejected the invitation to join Celtic as one of the team’s three strikers after learning it wouldn’t work out for him. He then departs. That’s perfectly OK, and we hope the best for him. Daniel has also received an extremely favorable contract offer.
“A deal that would allow him to join the first team and play, perform, and grow.” A few months ago, I had a conversation with the players’ agents and told them that it would be extremely difficult to practice with the squad if we couldn’t resolve this by summer.
Having given Kelly his debut last season, Rodgers has grown to be a tremendous fan of the player. “I like Daniel, but he has a lot of work to do, and I think this is a great place for him to be able to do that for him and the family,” the man stated.
