Stoke City won their opening preseason friendly thanks to two goals from Emre Tezgel and one from Niall Ennis.
The eighteen-year-old Tezgel struck twice to give Stoke the lead over Chester. Andre Vidigal did a great job setting up the first, and he almost scored the second, right before halftime, for himself. After spending the second half of the previous season on loan at MK Dons, the striker is vying to be a regular member of the club this season. He should have scored a third goal, but Cameron Mason made a great stop.
On a night when Steven Schumacher started his three new acquisitions, Eric Bocat, Ben Gibson, and Viktor Johansson, and reorganized his entire squad after 45 minutes, Mehdi Leris also struck the crossbar. Jaden Dixon and Sol Sidibe, both 17 years old, had opportunities to make an impression.
