Josh Walker and Joe Gubbins have joined Southend United.
Due to a winding up petition, the Shrimpers were put under a transfer embargo in May; however, the petition was dismissed, allowing the National League team to begin hiring.
center-back Gubbins has left QPR once again. The 22-year-old spent the previous season on loan at Accrington Stanley after making 10 appearances for Southend in 2022.
Walker was a young player for Fulham and Tottenham. Since then, he has stood for Westminster, Hendon, Barnet, and Dagenham & Redbridge.
The striker was on loan from Burton Albion to Gillingham for the second part of the previous campaign.
For Kevin Maher’s team, he and Gubbins have both inked two-year contracts.
Maher stated on the official club website:
We haven’t had enough players for a time, and it’s getting annoying to see other teams sign guys.
“We are thrilled with what we’ve been able to accomplish and we’re thankful to everyone at the Club for allowing us to do this,” the statement reads. “We’ve had to be patient.”
