Portsmouth youngster CJ Afumuzor has hinted that he will soon join Newcastle United. At just 14 years old, the midfielder has attracted attention from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United in recent months. Afumuzor announced the end of his eight-year tenure with Portsmouth’s youth system in a May Instagram post (via the Shields Gazette), stating: “23/24 season done. Massive thank you to Pompey and everyone at the club for developing over the last eight years.”One Instagram user commented on his post saying, “Welcome to Newcastle,” which Afumuzor liked, leading fans to believe he’ll soon be wearing the black and white jersey. According to NUFC Blog, a fee was agreed upon between Newcastle and Portsmouth in May, and Afumuzor has already completed a medical at St. James’ Park.He will join Newcastle’s academy for the 2024/25 season, having already played at the U16 level for Portsmouth last season, even though he has not yet turned 15.
