West Ham: Ben Johnson close to permanent transfer exit

The Sunday People reports that defender Ben Johnson of West Ham United is unlikely to sign a deal with Crystal Palace this summer since it appears that his contract is about to expire.

According to Darren Witcoop’s story on page 57 of their May 26 edition, Palace is no longer interested in the 24-year-old, which makes a move across London improbable.

Despite David Moyes’ departure, it appears that Johnson, a local kid who came through the East London development system, is likely to go for regular play. The Hammers have made multiple attempts to lock down Johnson’s future.

Johnson was connected to Palace at one point in the season when Oliver Glasner’s Eagles had a successful finish to 2023–24.

Ben Johnson should leave the West Ham nest now.

Johnson must depart West Ham United at the age of 24 in order to advance in his career.

It was clear a while back that Moyes was never really fond of him, and it seems doubtful that the arrival of Julen Lopetegui and any bold transfer negotiations by the team will help the former England U21 player become a first-choice selection.

Although Johnson hasn’t yet appeared in more than 20 Premier League games in a season, teams will always be interested in him because of his versatility, which makes him a desirable addition to many clubs.

The player appears to be standing firm, aware that he is at a crossroads. The Hammers are obviously eager to have him around as a backup, but Johnson is allowing interested parties like Wolverhampton Wanderers and Rangers some time to consider.

Johnson has demonstrated talent in his early years at West Ham, showing that he still has a very high ceiling should he secure a regular role in a respectable squad and possibly get notice for England in the future.
