Bento, who is currently only making £18,000 a week in Brazil, will probably earn at least twice that much when he relocates to Europe.
Wolves will have to fend off interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Serie A winners Inter Milan should they wish to sign him, but an uncontested top spot might be able to persuade him to choose the Midlands team over both teams.
But before Wolves take any action, they probably need to sell players, which could give other teams the advantage.
