Dennis Praet speaks out on Leicester City future as he reveals ‘painful’ part of five-year spell

Dennis Praet, the Belgian midfielder, is bidding farewell to Leicester City as he seeks new opportunities this summer. After five years at the club, Praet’s contract is coming to an end, and he will depart as a free agent. Despite his time at Leicester, which included winning the FA Cup and a Championship title, Praet struggled to establish himself as a key player due to injuries and a lack of goals.

A potential return to Italy is on the horizon for Praet, as he considers his years in Serie A to be his best. He had a successful three-season stint at Sampdoria and also spent a year on loan at Torino in the 2021-2022 season, although Leicester City prevented a permanent move back to the club.

In an interview with Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, Praet expressed his readiness for a new challenge: “I’m at the end of my contract and ready for something new. I am now 29 and at the peak of my physical career. I want to make an impact again and rediscover the joy of the game.”

While Praet acknowledges the uncertainty of being a free agent, he remains optimistic as there are already promising prospects on the horizon. However, he understands the need for patience as some clubs are still finalizing their budgets. Praet also emphasizes his affinity for Italy, citing his positive experiences during his time there and his familiarity with the language.

Currently, Praet’s main focus is finding the right club that aligns with his ambitions and goals.
