A Rangers legend is being considered as the top candidate to replace Arne Slot, who is set to join Liverpool this summer. The departure of the Dutchman from Feyenoord will leave the club in need of a new manager, and they may look towards a former Dutch midfielder.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s tenure as Rangers manager did not go as planned, as he failed to mount a serious challenge to Celtic during his brief time in charge between 2021 and 2022. Despite this, he led the team to the Europa League final and Scottish Cup victory.
Van Bronckhorst is still highly regarded for his successful playing career at Ibrox, where he won five trophies in three years, including two Premiership titles. Although he has not returned to coaching since leaving Rangers, former Ibrox manager Dick Advocaat believes he would be an excellent choice for Feyenoord.
Advocaat pointed out that Van Bronckhorst led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in the 2016/2017 season during his four-year stint from 2015 to 2019. He emphasized that Van Bronckhorst’s track record of winning trophies makes him a strong candidate to replace the highly sought-after Liverpool-bound manager.
In a statement to The Sun, Advocaat expressed his preference for Van Bronckhorst, citing his experience and success at Feyenoord. He highlighted the importance of winning trophies and believes that Van Bronckhorst’s achievements make him the ideal choice for the managerial position at Feyenoord.
