Prior to Celtic’s forthcoming Rangers Old Firm match, Chris Sutton discusses a “major” Daizen Maeda worry.

A few weeks after his goal at Ibrox in the Old Firm gave Celtic a boost in the title fight, the Japan international is out due to a hamstring issue.

Additionally, after giving Tavernier a rough time in their previous meetings, Sutton writes in his Daily Record column on April 20 that Tavernier will be “relieved” that he won’t have to face him at Celtic Park the following month. “For the run-in, and that last Old Firm encounter in particular, Daizen Maeda is a major loss,” he stated. “Celtic don’t have the same bankers this time around, and James Tavernier will be relieved not to be involved given how significant Jota and Liel Abada have been in that fixture in recent years.”
