Erik ten Hag slams Man United critics as a ‘disgrace’ after ’embarrassing’ backlash to FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry as the Dutchman insists ‘top football is about results’

In response to the criticism following Manchester United’s thrilling FA Cup semifinal victory over Coventry City, Erik ten Hag came out swinging on Tuesday, calling his detractors “a disgrace.”

After conceding three goals in the last 20 minutes against the Championship underdogs on Sunday, United was heavily criticized for losing the game and only making it to the Cup Final on penalties.

In his post-match press conference at Wembley, Ten Hag refuted the notion that United’s collapse was “embarrassing.” Ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League encounter against Sheffield United, he rounded on his critics and upheld his record.

The United manager responded, “Absolutely not,” when asked if he understood the response. “Is it embarrassing?” is the question that you posed. No, your response was embarrassing. The remarks are shameful.

Performance is key in elite football. We earned our spot in the final through the other games as well as this one. Twenty minutes of losing control and terrible luck cost us in games 3-2 and 3-3. Clearly, in the end, we were really fortunate.
