Hart was supposed to take a spot kick, and Liam Scales acknowledged during the match that the veteran had been putting them away with ease in training before the semi-final.

He was unable to repeat his antics in the game, but when asked if he would welcome another opportunity to receive a penalty, he responded, “100%,” according to RecordSport. I’ll constantly make an effort to shine.

“I believe that in times like that, you need people like me who have confidence in their abilities and mental clarity.

That really captures who I am as a player: I’m willing to take risks. The team, the management, and I all totally support each other. I just pulled it too much after going through my procedure. I’m a goalkeeper, so fortunately I was able to save myself.

“I won one in a 21st-century competition. I’ve never used one in a competitive match before. Despite my disappointment at not scoring today, we prevailed. I didn’t apologize to the lads for missing one. They think well of me. I will always be the one with the bravery and self-assurance to accept the penalty at that precise moment.

The Scottish Cup final the following month is the only opportunity the 37-year-old may have to take a penalty for Celtic once more.

Hart wants to go out on a high note as it will be his last game ever.
