With a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon, Celtic secured their spot in the Scottish Cup final. Now, all attention is on league affairs.
The Bhoys lead the table by three points with five games remaining. This coming weekend, they travel to play Dundee before hosting Hearts and Rangers back-to-back.
The championship will almost certainly belong to Brendan Rodgers’ team if they win the next three games. But Chris Sutton isn’t too sure about his former squad.
In contrast to Rangers and Celtics supporters, he stated, “I don’t think the title race is over” [RecordSport]. I don’t think either team can win the rest of the campaign without losing.
“Celtic is still having problems in their wide areas, and they have played in halves this season. Similar to last weekend’s matchup with St Mirren, it took some effort to get the first goal against a team that was playing deep until they did.
“Celtic players need to focus on their own game and completely ignore what’s going on over at Ibrox, even though their supporters are taking great pleasure in the apparent collapse.”
Fortunately for Celtic, they still have control over their fate. Despite the season’s many highs and lows, the players know what remains to be done with six games remaining in every competition.
From now until the conclusion of the season, every game is a cup final, with the first one happening this Sunday in Dundee.
