Celtic legend cries for Rangers ‘penalty’ but Hampden shout over Wolves loanee isn’t what it seems

Following the Light Blues’ victory over Hearts, Chris Sutton made a sly allegation on social media about the Rangers’ “penalty.”

Cyriel Dessers’ double gave the team a 2-0 victory at Hampden in the Scottish Cup semifinal. They advance to their first championship final against Celtic since 2002, but a puzzling occurrence happened in the second half when Rangers mounted an attack.Fabio Silva, a Wolves loanee, was moving into the area when Dessers cut the ball back to him, giving him only yards to aim for the entire goal. The striker made an odd contact with the deck as the pass approached him, allowing Hearts to escape danger.

“It looks like he is diving there,” BBC Sports Scotland commentator James McFadden stated. I believe he can get his act together. I’m not sure what he is attempting to accomplish there, but it’s not ideal for him.

That incident prompted Celtic legend Sutton to write a heartfelt message of sorrow for Silva, who signed a loan with Rangers from Wolves in January. With his tongue firmly in his cheek, he tweeted, “There’s a penalty for those who say Silva dived here; they are biased.”

Trying to provide Silva with a defense while doing Premier Sports commentary was left to Ally McCoist. The legendary Ranger remarked: “I believe it’s just behind him.” I’m attempting to support him.

“Dessers performs a fantastic job, bringing it to a point where he believes Silva has a full and total tap in. The best I can do is suggest that he may be a little ahead of it and that it gets caught beneath his feet.”
