Jack Butland ‘amazing’ in Rangers victory over Hearts amid links to transfer exit

According to Heart & Hand, Jack Butland’s performance for Rangers in the 2-0 victory over Hearts was “amazing” as he maintained a clean sheet.

The creator of the Gers podcast, David Edgar, responded on Twitter on April 21 following the Light Blues keeper’s crucial late save against Yaturo Oda, which preserved the outcome in the Scottish Cup semifinal.

The team’s performance had plummeted in recent weeks, and the 31-year-old had not been at his best; yet, he was outstanding in the pivotal win at Hampden Park.

“Jack Butland is amazing—I may have mentioned this,” Edgar wrote.

Can Rangers hold onto the former keeper from Crystal Palace?

Butland has been voted into the PFA Scotland Team of the Year because to his exceptional performances under Michael Beale and Philippe Clement, which have put him back in the England picture.

However, following just one season at Ibrox, he has also been linked to a high-profile move away from the stadium when Nottingham Forest made a bid for him in January.

Given that he turned down the opportunity to transfer to the City Ground in the middle of the season [Scottish Sun, 25 February], it is expected that he will fetch a fee in excess of £20 million should he decide to depart [SudInfo Sports, 10 April].

Butland’s continued significance to Clement’s team was shown with a decisive stop from Alan Forrest in the first half following a careless error by John Lundstram, a point-blank stop from a possibly-offside Frankie Kent shortly after, and the game-winning save from Oda.

I may have already remarked how great Jack Butland is.

He will have had a major role in both of the championships won this season, so if he leaves, there will undoubtedly be a significant void.

He has a crucial task to complete for the Light Blues for the next month, but if the profit is substantial, the club might not be able to turn it down.

In other Rangers news, the manager may now bench 15 players at Ibrox this summer.
