Due to the fact that the four surviving clubs are competing for a trophy, the Scottish Cup semifinals are significant in and of themselves.
However, I have a strong feeling that this weekend will be very significant for the title race as well. For Rangers and Celtic, Hampden serves as a diversion in certain respects. Brendan Rodgers and Celtic will be eager to return to league action in order to put further pressure on Rangers. After experiencing some significant setbacks recently, Philippe Clement and his team really need to get back on track.
Both of them will be under pressure, but you have to believe that Rangers are under far more strain. They could suffer a major setback to their already severely faltering league campaign if they fail to defeat Hearts on Sunday. Celtic will still have the confidence, belief, and momentum if they defeat Aberdeen.
