Rangers: Dujon Sterling can take on leadership role at Ibrox after expletive title race admission

After making remarks recently about Rangers’ decline in form during a title battle with Celtic, Dujon Sterling has declared himself open to captaining the team at Ibrox in the future.

As he nears his twilight years, James Tavernier, 32, is not slowing down, but the Gers must be considering who might be the next man to don the captain’s armband.

Even though Sterling had a rough beginning to his time in Scotland, since Philippe Clement’s arrival, the former Chelsea academy graduate has only grown in popularity, and his admission will only make fans love him even more.

PLZ Soccer recorded Sterling’s remarks during a news conference on Thursday, April 18, saying, “We owe ourselves a performance as well because we’ve been [expletive] the past three games.”

“I simply believe that since the fans have gone everywhere and returned home, we should reset and do it for them as well.”

Dujon Sterling’s enlightening candor as the Rangers lose the championship

The 24-year-old’s brutally honest evaluation will be valued by the Ibrox supporters far more than the media-trained responses that most players would provide during such a situation.

With most of the team playing below average, Sterling is definitely no angel. His remarks during the championship race, nevertheless, ought to be well received by the supporters.

With a four-point differential opening up between the Old Firm rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, Clement’s team has faltered just when it matters most.

After three games without a win, including an unexpected 3-2 loss to Ross County and a depressing 0-0 draw with Dundee at Dens Park, frustrations have grown.

For the Rangers, Dujon Sterling has been playing well.

Naturally, with Michael Beale out of the picture, there didn’t seem to be much chance of winning the league title, but Clement has brought renewed confidence to Ibrox.

The Gers have the potential to produce a future leader in Sterling, but they will probably need to accomplish what they haven’t been able to do this season: defeat the Hoops.

In other Rangers news, following their performance against Ross County, Chris Sutton has ripped into the players.
