Rangers winger Ross McCausland has been picked among five “next generation” gems from Northern Ireland in a new article from the Mail on Sunday. The newspaper named the Ibrox gem in its print edition on Sunday (31 March, page 88) alongside Callum Marshall, Braiden Graham, George Feeney and Ceadrach O’Neill as players to watch from the next generation of talent.
McCausland has broken into the Light Blues’ first team this season under the management of Philippe Clement where he has gone from strength to strength and impressed as the Gers eye a potential domestic treble.
Discussing the winger, the Mail on Sunday wrote: “Signed by Rangers in 2019, winger McCausland worked his way up the ranks at Linfield. McCausland is a precise player, holding up the ball and playing neat passes.
“Made his Northern Ireland debut against Finland last year and scored for Rangers against Aris Limassol in the Europa League last November.”
The hype around McCausland may have slightly died down at Ibrox in recent weeks and months as fans and pundits alike have become used to the winger’s style and tempered their expectations ever so slightly.
While the Northern Irish international has still been impressive, he remains incredibly raw and is still learning his craft whilst playing for the Light Blues. He may not be perfect, but he is certainly exciting.
It could be argued that among the crop of players namechecked in this article, McCausland has had the most success so far this season, playing regularly for a team that have been fighting on all fronts and is impressive in Europe.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to cap off an excellent debut season with the Light Blues with a Premiership title this season. That way the 20-year-old will be perfectly set up to hit new heights at Ibrox in the coming years.
