First hint at how much Newcastle United can spend in summer transfer window revealed

According to sources, Newcastle United is willing to pay a premium this summer and is ready to compete with Real Madrid for Jarrad Branthwaite, the defender for Everton.

The FFP/PSR rules have hindered the Magpies in recent transfer windows, despite their ownership being among the richest in the world. Due to a season marred by injuries, Newcastle had to hold out for reinforcements in January, although they were compelled to do so by a strict balance sheet.

The FFP/PSR three-year financial period, which is influenced by revenue from the Champions League and an attractive Adidas kit agreement, resets in July.According to FootballFanCast, Newcastle is reportedly looking to pay much on Toffees hero Branthwaite. The 21-year-old has been a rare bright spot in Goodison Park’s otherwise disastrous season. After bringing Branthwaite into the starting lineup, Sean Dyche’s gamble has paid off, as rumours of a possible £75 million transfer are intensifying.

The centre back is apparently being pursued by Manchester United and Real Madrid, probably the two biggest teams in international football. During the most recent international break, Branthwaite was called up for the first time for England, but he was forced to watch as the Three Lions battled against Brazil and Belgium.

From Newcastle’s standpoint, Branthwaite would be an immediate replacement for long-term absentee Sven Botman because he is a left-footed center-back. With the Toon winger opening out about their close bond when playing for England, Anthony Gordon may turn out to be the Magpies’ secret weapon in any Branthwaite move.

Both players progressed through the ranks of Everton, a Premier League team that is still struggling financially. Newcastle’s interest in signing Branthwaite suggests a summer spending spree as the Toon executives look to revitalise the project following a lacklustre season.
